Job Overview
As a Server, you will be responsible for taking orders from and serving food to customers. Duties will primarily include taking food and drink orders, writing them down on order slips, ensuring that tables are appropriately served, and collecting all payments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
- Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize them, or enter orders into computers for transmission to the kitchen staff.
- Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
- Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
- Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Collect payments from tables.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs, as well as sales taxes.
- Help food preparation staff when necessary.
- Removes used glassware, cups, empty bottles, and trash from tables as needed. Uses a silent service approach when guests occupy tables. Cleans and prepares the table for reuse immediately after guests depart.
- Learning about menu items and memorizing food and cocktail recipes.
- Maintains positive guest relations with a high level of professionalism through observing guests and anticipating their needs, responding promptly, and acknowledging all guests.
- Conveys accurate information in response to guest inquiries regarding Halftime Hangout and events, as well as local attractions and activities.
Qualifications
- Be 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age to serve alcohol.
- A courteous and friendly personality, with a professional appearance.
- Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
- A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally.
- Observant and thorough, responsible, punctual.
- Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to meet physical and scheduling demands of the position, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety concepts and practices. Servesafe certification preferred.
- Must adhere to the established appearance guidelines.
