What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Operations Assistant position at Hale Trailer?
Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Inc is a multi-location, full-service trailer dealership with an immediate opening at its branch located in Wendell, NC. We are looking for a Yard Operations Assistant with experience in the heavy-duty truck and trailer industry. In this position you will be responsible for assisting the sales, service and rental departments as outlined below.

Responsibilities include:
- Conduct inbound & outbound rental trailer inspections.
- Assist rental customers when picking up or returning trailers.
- Install and remove headboards as needed for rental deals.
- Run reefer units weekly and document any issues.
- Conduct monthly physical inventory.
- Jockey trailers for Rental Dept. as needed and maintain stock organization.
- Complete equipment interchange reports on stock trailers being delivered or picked up by a carrier and verify receipt of the correct VIN #.
- Install stock decals and photograph all new stock trailers.
- Install temporary tags on sold stock units.
- Jockey and/or stack trailers as needed; maintain stock organization.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections.
- Assist with large repairs as needed.
- Pick up parts from Parts Dept. as needed.
- Maintain sufficient fuel levels in all Service Dept. equipment.
- Keep yard free of debris and other general facility maintenance.
- Comply with the Company’s safety program.
Requirements:
- Industry experience is not necessary, but experience in the heavy-duty truck/trailer/transportation industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of trucks or trailers is helpful, but not mandatory.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must by detail oriented, and able to handle multi-tasking regularly.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Must have good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test and physical.
