Role Overview
Hale Kipa is seeking two dedicated Summer Youth Counselors to join our team, supporting youth aged 12-17 who are experiencing some type of crisis and are participants in our Emergency Shelter Program. As a Summer Youth Counselor, you will manage crisis situations, provide a stable, safe, and nurturing environment, and help the youth work through their issues. Your responsibilities will include ensuring youth engagement in a structured program, comprising of chores, meals, leisure time, study time, meetings, and planned activities. Additionally, you will hold discussions with the youth, assisting them with emotional processing, promoting adaptive coping mechanisms, and setting firm boundaries. Beyond direct work with the youth, you will handle intake processes, complete necessary documentation on time, and maintain electronic health records. As a team member, you will also need to communicate effectively and represent Hale Kipa professionally when interacting with stakeholders, parents/guardians, and youth.
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
Start and End date:
- 05/19/25 - 08/15/25
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience or training in working with youth is highly preferred
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license
- Ability to drive the agency van to take youth on outings
