Shape Precision at Halcyon ManufacturingLocation: San Jose, CA 95133Hire type: Full-time with overtime as neededShift: Day shiftSchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; weekends/OT as needed; expected minimum 40 hours per weekWork setting: Onsite/in personCompensation: The posting reflects two pay references: a range of $40–$50 per hour and a range of $35–$45 per hour dependent on experience.A day in the roleYou arrive to an immaculate, modern shop floor where aerospace, semiconductor, medical, and home-defense components are crafted. Your morning begins with in-process checks on close-tolerance parts using calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages, and a surface plate. You move to the lab to program and run a Zeiss CMM, validating critical dimensions and documenting results. A First Article Inspection per AS9102 is queued next; you build the inspection plan in High QA, collaborate with machinists to resolve any discrepancies, and finalize results for part release. In the afternoon, you support a customer audit, tidy and organize digital records, and help refine inspection processes as the team transitions further into fully digital planning and traceability. Throughout, you communicate clearly with both machinists and managers, ensuring parts meet drawings, specifications, and tolerances.What you will doPerform mechanical inspections of precision-machined parts using standard hand metrology tools.Program and operate Zeiss (or similar) CMM equipment for dimensional verification.Execute and document First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 requirements.Create and manage inspection plans and reports in High QA (or comparable software).Partner with machinists for in-process checks and govern final/receiving inspection and release.Maintain clean, accurate, and organized inspection records to support audits.Contribute to inspection process development and continuous improvement; advance digital workflows.Support internal and external audits as needed.What you bring5 years of mechanical quality inspection within a precision machining environment.Strong command of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.Hands-on proficiency with calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages, and surface plates.Experience programming CMMs; Zeiss experience is strongly preferred.Proficiency with AS9102 FAI and familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.Comfort using High QA or similar inspection planning/ballooning/reporting tools.Clear communicator and collaborative teammate with exceptional attention to detail and organization.Education: High school diploma or better (preferred).Experience level: 5 years ; Manufacturing QC 5 years required.Shift availability: Day shift required.Tools and technologies you’ll useZeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)Optical Comparator (Mitutoyo)Vision systemCalipers and micrometers; measurement gagesSurface plate and 2D drawingsCAD softwareGrowth and impactThis role offers a clear path to a QC Lead position for a self-driven professional eager to elevate standards and mentor others in a fast-paced prototyping environment.BenefitsMedical and dental insurancePaid time offHoliday paySick leaveOur culturePassion: Treat every project—large or small—as our own, because true quality begins with care.Integrity: Operate transparently and take responsibility, holding ourselves to the highest standards.Discipline: Stay engaged and never cut corners; consistency drives results.Standardization: Trust the process for repeatability and reliability, always measuring and improving.Team: Rely on the skills and dedication of a diverse group, pushing one another to be great together.
