Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Collision Repair Technician role based in Wakefield, RI. The Collision Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting damaged vehicles, identifying necessary repairs, and performing structural, body, and cosmetic work in accordance with industry and safety standards. Daily tasks include disassembly and reassembly of vehicle components, frame and body alignment, panel replacement and repair, sanding, priming, and prep work for painting, as well as finishing and detailing. The technician will use diagnostic tools, welders, and other equipment to ensure precise repairs, while documenting work performed and communicating status updates to service advisors or management. The role also involves maintaining a safe, clean work environment, adhering to quality control processes, and collaborating with other team members to meet production timelines.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with collision repair techniques, including bodywork, panel replacement, frame and structural repair, and vehicle disassembly/reassembly.
- Proficiency using shop tools and equipment such as welders, pullers, sanders, measuring systems, and safety gear in accordance with manufacturer and industry guidelines.
- Knowledge of automotive systems, materials, and repair processes, including basic mechanical understanding and familiarity with paint and refinishing preparation.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders, estimates, and technical documentation, with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with estimators, painters, and other technicians in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple repairs, meet deadlines, and follow established shop procedures.
- Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to regulatory and environmental requirements, and consistent use of proper protective equipment.
- Prior experience in an auto body or collision repair shop preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., I-CAR, ASE) are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform manual tasks as part of daily work.
