Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering an outstanding dining experience for our guests. Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Plan menus that highlight fresh ingredients and innovative flavor combinations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Handle food preparation tasks including slicing, portioning, and garnishing with precision and efficiency
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for restocking
- Ensure all food handling practices meet health department standards
- Collaborate with restaurant staff to deliver excellent food service and customer satisfaction
- Assist in catering events or special menu offerings as needed
- Uphold the restaurant’s reputation for quality, presentation, and authentic cuisine
Requirements
- Proven experience in culinary arts with a focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine; fine dining experience preferred
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques specific to sushi making
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling of raw fish and seafood products
- 2-3 years experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and food industry best practices
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation
- Culinary certification or relevant training is advantageous but not mandatory
- Prior restaurant or catering experience demonstrating expertise in food service and presentation
Pay: $210.00 - $270.00 per day
