GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION – CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATOR
Responsible for various construction administration tasks and services associated with the standard responsibilities of the Structural Engineer or Record for projects under construction. These tasks will include shop drawing review, construction coordination, RFI response, review and coordination of special inspection reports, and structural observations as required by the project contract. The intent of the role is to support architects and contractors throughout the construction process by providing excellent and responsive structural engineering services while adding value and expertise. This role requires the ability to read and interpret project construction documents and specifications that are associated with the structural building envelope. The intent of the role is to ensure that the constructed elements of the project are in general conformance with the project structural requirements and to be pro-active in identifying and addressing issues in a timely and helpful manner. This role requires attention to detail, effective communication, problem solving, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· BSCE, BSAE or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
· 2 – 5 years of proven experience in structural engineering, construction management, construction administration, project management, or project coordination.

1. GPA in undergraduate and graduate level programs of 3.5 or higher.
2. Proficient in Bluebeam, Procore, and various other construction software platforms.
3. Proficient in Microsoft 365.
4. An understanding of the use and implication of specifications used for construction.

6. Shows strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to anticipate constructability issues and resolve them in the field to be in compliance with construction documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Shop Drawing Review: Review of shop drawings to be in compliance with the architectural, structural, and mechanical construction documents as required. Maintain and organize shop drawing submittals and ensure their timely completion and implementation.
2. Project Coordination: Coordinate and assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction administration services for multiple projects at a time, ensuring timely responses, effective communication, and accurate construction solutions. Scheduling and coordinating the resources needed to serve the clients and contractors well.
3. Document Management: Maintain and organize project documentation, including contracts, specifications, and construction documents. Ensure accurate record-keeping for future reference and compliance. Adherence to HSG construction administration documentation procedures and implementation of new procedures as needed.
4. Communication Liaison: Act as a communication bridge between project stakeholders, including contractors, architects, and internal teams. Facilitate effective information flow and address RFI’s and construction coordination issues promptly.
5. Meeting Coordination: Schedule and coordinate site visits, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes for anything related to the structural engineering services being provided.
6. Construction Quality Assurance: Collaborate with contractors and internal project team members to ensure that construction work meets the established structural standards and specifications. Visit construction sites as dictated by the structural engineering contract to ensure a quality product is being provided to the project stake holders.
7. Special Inspection Management: Review of special inspection reports and coordination with special inspectors as needed. Adherence and oversight of special inspectors and contractors to ensure special inspections are being performed according to the construction document requirements.
8. Special Inspections: Periodically act as special inspector under supervision of project Engineer of Record when required by project contract.
9. Problem Solver: Resolve coordination issues and contractor errors in the field based on the construction documents with minimal guidance or supervision. Discernment to know when to engage the Engineer of Record on any issues found.
10. Quality Control: Provide quality control reviews for constructability and coordination with all other trades by compiling, organizing, and reviewing project contract documents.

· Has authority to review and make decisions on shop drawings and construction requests.
· Utilizes judgement on when the Engineer of Record needs to be involved with various decisions during construction.
· Responsible for teaching and training Engineering Interns and BIM technicians who may assist in shop drawing review, structural observations, or other construction administration and management services.
