Overview / Purpose:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and transportation activities, including the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of inbound and outbound shipments of raw product or pack materials, supplies, and finished goods, in order to facilitate smooth operations, maintain inventory accuracy, and foster a safe, productive workplace.
The Logistics Manager provides guidance and development to warehouse and transportation staff, enforces company policies, and collaborates with multiple internal departments to optimize material flow and support manufacturing goals.
This position requires material handling equipment certification on stand-up and sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, skyjack lifts, and powered pallet jacks and is responsible for hiring forklift operators for the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct daily warehouse and transportation operations, ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with company guidelines and industry regulations.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to warehouse and transportation leads, including scheduling, performance evaluation and conflict resolution.
- Foster a team-oriented environment that values safety, efficiency, continuous improvement, leadership and team building to motivate, coach, and develop staff in fast-paced operational settings.
- Oversee the warehouse and transportation team for the receipt, inspection, storage and documentation of incoming materials and components, to ensure timely fulfillment of manufacturing needs and scheduled production orders.
- Ensure the transportation team accurately load scanned pallets to the correct location and trailers, secures and documents outgoing shipment bill of lading according to inventory, company and downstream customer requirements.
- Work with transportation, third party logistics, and vendor partners as needed to resolve any issues related to shipment delays, errors or damages.
- Manage returns, rejects, and non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and inventory control teams to maintain inventory FIFO attainment goals.
- Collaborate with Production and Quality leadership on variance and CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventative Action) investigations.
- Oversee and Conduct Track and Trace activities for QA audits.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, workflow, and storage systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies within the warehouse and collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance on actions.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive projects focused on reducing waste, optimizing material handling, and improving safety.
- Uphold and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all associates adhere to PPE and GMP requirements and safe operating procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors) and arrange for maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards applicable to warehousing in a manufacturing environment.
- Lead department safety meetings and participate actively in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Prepare operational reports, including metrics on order fulfillment, productivity, and enforce and audit mandated warehouse lead end of shift checklists.
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners to resolve issues and facilitate operations.
- Manage the receipt process for Terra Vegetable Vendor deliveries, to include unloading, receipt tagging, staging product, FIFO board updates and receipt validations with recorded weight on carrier documentation to vendor teams.
- Manage refresher training participation in regular MHE retraining or recertification, especially after incidents, near misses, or changes in equipment or work environment.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support overall warehouse and production operations.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing or operations, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated experience with warehouse technologies, scanners, RF devices, and inventory software and processes.
- Experience implementing process improvements and leading teams in dynamic environments.
- Forklift operator (stand-up, reach and sit-down), trainer certification preferred
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field preferred.
- OSHA safety certification a plus.

- Physical Conditions:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, twist and stoop in required duties.
- Ability to use proper lifting methods on items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment during a shift.
- Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, high-visibility vests, eye/hearing protection along with head and facial hair coverings.

- Plant and logistics office environment with exposure to shipping and manufacturing operations to include outside exposure to inclement weather during yard operations. May require occasional extended hours or weekend coverage during peak shipping period.
