What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Director position at Hahn?
Media Strategy & Leadership • Define and lead cross-channel media strategy across an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring campaigns are rooted in audience insights, competitive intelligence, and client business objectives. • Develop integrated traditional and digital media strategies spanning paid search, paid social, programmatic, CTV, OOH, broadcast, and emerging channels, with data informing planning and optimization decisions throughout. • Leverage AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to enhance audience targeting, campaign modeling, predictive planning, and performance analysis, and stay ahead of how AI is changing the media buying landscape. • Stay ahead of shifts in the media landscape and proactively bring forward new platform recommendations, measurement approaches, and channel opportunities. • Contribute to annual budget planning, KPI development, partner selection, and ongoing campaign strategy for each client.
Hands-On Campaign Execution & Optimization • Serve as a hands-on practitioner for select accounts, including campaign setup, trafficking oversight, performance monitoring, and tactical optimizations. • Lead reporting across the portfolio, going beyond the numbers to surface meaningful insights, identify trends, and drive optimizations that deliver the best possible outcomes for clients. • Actively explore and apply AI-driven optimization tools within platforms and across reporting workflows, helping the team work smarter and surface insights faster. • Ensure reporting deliverables are sharp, actionable, and client-ready, with clear recommendations tied to business goals. • Troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions directly or through team coordination.
Client Leadership • Serve as the senior media lead and strategic partner for clients, ensuring strong communication, proactive guidance, and a high level of trust. • Present strategic recommendations with confidence, solicit meaningful feedback, and translate client goals into clear direction for the team. • Partner with account, creative, PR, analytics, and digital teams to deliver fully integrated campaigns across all Hahn industry verticals, including energy and utilities, health and nutrition, food and beverage, and essential services.
Team Mentorship & Development • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of media planners and coordinators, building both individual skills and collective capability. • Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and create a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning. • Champion AI fluency across the media team, helping planners and coordinators understand, adopt, and build confidence with tools that will define the next generation of media practice. • As the team scales, help define and build out channel specialization across paid search, paid social, and programmatic functions. • Participate in ongoing professional development and foster the same in your team.
Agency Growth • Actively contribute to new business pitches, RFP responses, and agency positioning efforts as a media subject matter expert. • Help build Hahn’s media practice reputation through vendor relationships, industry engagement, and thought leadership.
What You Bring •
8 years of paid media experience with demonstrated expertise across both traditional and digital media channels. • Strong command of data-driven planning. You use research, audience insights, and performance data to build and refine campaign strategy. • Proven experience leading client relationships in an agency environment at a senior level. • Hands-on platform proficiency across key digital channels including DSPs, paid social, paid search, and CTV. You can lead the work and do the work. • Experience managing and mentoring junior media team members. • Genuine curiosity about AI’s role in media, from planning and buying to measurement and reporting. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be someone who leans in, experiments, and brings others along. • Healthcare/health and nutrition experience is a plus. More importantly, you’re someone who can be knowledgeable on any industry we serve. • Proficiency in media planning, analytics, and reporting tools; familiarity with AI-powered media tools is a plus. • Strong presentation and communication skills. You can make complex strategy feel clear and confident in a client setting. • A collaborative, proactive mindset with sharp attention to detail and the ability to hold both the big picture and the performance details at once. • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
