Brief Position Description:
The Estimating Coordinator is a highly focused, motivated, relationship driven individual who can jump in feet first into a variety of commercial, industrial, and educational construction projects. This person will coordinate and perform preconstruction tasks while working with current & potential clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors for assigned projects in a manner consistent with Company policy, procedures and ethical code.
RESPONSIBLITIES
Project Assessment:
- Conduct thorough analysis of project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with teams to understand scope and objectives.
- Conduct site visits to field verify existing conditions.
Future Project Identification:
- Research and identify upcoming projects in the industry and region through available resources from Haggerty.
- Provide information to Design Manager to determine which projects to bid upon.
- Analyze market trends and potential opportunities for project involvement.
- Follow up on all leads.
- Coordinate leads with Business Development and Management.
Data Gathering:
- Collect and compile necessary preliminary data for accurate cost estimation.
- Work closely with various departments to obtain relevant information.
- Download permit information or obtain AHJ requirements for the project.
Cost Estimation:
- Utilize established methods to estimate project costs.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of cost projections.
- Level sub-contractor proposals as costs come in.
- Write detailed bid proposals and send to management for review.
Documentation:
- Take meeting minutes in all meetings attended and file in the appropriate locations.
- Maintain organized records for future reference and analysis.
Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, architects, engineers, and sub-contractors to gather input and ensure alignment with project plans.
- Provide information timely to all Haggerty team members especially for decision making.
- Work closely with other departments within the company to determine project prospects.
Bid Support:
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals.
- Collaborate with bid teams to refine cost-related components of proposals.
- Make phone calls to sub-contractors to ensure they are bidding, and enough coverage is obtained.
Administrative Duties:
- Gather design consultant billings and prepare monthly billings to owners.
- Write design professional subcontracts and change orders.
- Create project LEAD folders and assign job numbers.
- Update ProCore with project specifics and enter dates as projects move to next phase.
QUALIFIFCATIONS & SKILLS
What we need you to bring to the table:
- 3 years’ experience in commercial construction estimating required
- Extensive experience with detailed plan review and quantity surveys
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to work well in a team
- Solid communication skills required; ability to assertively and respectfully push for information
- Must be proficient in MS Office/Project/Outlook, Dropbox
- Position requires ability to learn new software programs within reasonable timeframe of hire (i.e. Procore, Building Connected, and other bid solicitation
- Classes in project management, construction, costing or analysis heavily weighted; exposure to or experience in architecture, engineering, construction or project management a plus
- Accounting and/or costing experience preferred
- Preferred proficiency in both Procore and Building Connected

- Reliable personal transportation and a motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with HCI’s and insurance carrier’s standards and policies
- Able to lift 25-40 lbs. Ability to lift heavy objects as encountered in the work environment
- Ability to work outside year-round in all types of weather conditions
- Availability to work extended hours as required by weather conditions or urgent circumstances
- Ability to raise, lower and climb various types of ladders
- Hearing and visual capabilities to safely handle the hazards encountered in the work environment
- Ability to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project (may require standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time)
- Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades)
