Position Overview
The NDT Apprentice, will undergo comprehensive training in various non-destructive testing techniques to ensure the quality and integrity of materials and components used in industrial settings. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and gain hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced professionals in the field.
Essential Job Duties
- Learn and apply principles of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods including but not limited to ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), radiographic testing (RT), and visual testing (VT).
- Assist with NDT Level II and/or Level III Technician(s) as they perform various types of nondestructive testing, including low and high frequency Eddy Current, Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Radiographic, and Magnetic Particle Inspection.
- Assist with NDT Level II and/or Level III Technician(s) as they set-up/calibrate equipment and interpret/evaluate results with respect to applicable standards and specifications.
- Assist with NDT Level II and/or Level III Technician(s) as they inspect, evaluate and accept/reject work performed by aircraft maintenance mechanics.
- Read blueprints and technical specifications.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed and potential damage to customer or company property is minimized by overseeing aircraft maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
What you need: (Requirements)
Minimum
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to obtain HAECO’s Level I NDT certification with the required classroom AND OJT hours for a minimum of one Level I NDT method (PT, ET, UT).
- Must be able to obtain HAECO’s Repairman Certificate.
- Capable of interpreting drawings, blueprints, service bulletins, ads and any other related documents as required.
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
Preferred
- Any previous NDT training or experience.
- Airframe and/or Powerplant certification
Physical Requirements
- Subject to noise in excess of 85 dB
- Be able to work in high places and confined spaces.
- Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands.
- Job required participation in the DOT random drug and alcohol testing program.
- Normal or corrected hearing.
- Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds.
- Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected and must have full color vision.
