What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at Hacor Inc?
Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the General Manager, maintain, repair, and install food service (kitchen/machine) related equipment as required throughout the district and other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the Maintenance Department. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all food service (kitchen/machine) systems.
Education/ Certification:
- High School diploma or GED,
- Associate's Degree in Refrigeration preferred but not required
- Valid CA driver's license
- Universal EPA Certification in refrigerants
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Knowledge of commercial food service (kitchen/machine) equipment repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
- Knowledge in the operation of electrical control systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
- Ability to operate a computer and assigned software.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
Experience:
Five or more years of experience in the commercial food service (kitchen/machine) equipment and refrigeration maintenance field
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains maintenance standards which effectively, safely, and economically meet company expectations;
- Develops and implements daily routine schedules for servicing and preparing facility equipment for usage by company personnel;
- Conducts continuous analysis of company equipment and vehicles for proper and safe operation;
- Familiarizes workers with company policies including possible penalties for failure to comply, including strict enforcement of HACOR dress (uniform) code;
- Enforces compliance of established policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations, including but not limited to the following: OSHA, HACCP, USDA, FDA, and accident prevention;
- Responsible for oversight of safety and health culture within area of supervision;
- Actively supports the HACOR’s commitment and vision regarding safety, health, and quality;
- Conducts and or reviews all details relative to accident investigation insuring documentation is promptly submitted to human resources;
- Monitors the incoming and outgoing communications, insuring timely internal distribution as required;
- Organizes and monitors the process for department member employee’s vacation bid, work hour shift bid, reports sick calls, no shows, etc., in conjunction with human resources department;
- Participates in weekly operations meetings. Reports on matters of performance or other problematic concerns;
- Recognizes employees for outstanding performance, makes recommendations to encourage, acknowledge/reward such employees;
- Understands union environment and abides by contractual agreement as provided therein;
- Initiates and/or oversees department administrative responsibilities i.e. deliver receipts, return documentation and supplier audit;
- Conducts internal audits for all departments;
- Assist human resources in the hiring and firing, as well as corrective action of his staff;
- Performs office administrative work and prepares reports as needed. Will communicate with all departments, employees, staff as needed, in person, via mail or phone;
- Deals with all government agencies for all positions, such as City, State, OSHA, Health Department, Contractors Board, Fire Marshals, and City Inspectors;
- Represents Company regarding any problems or injuries caused due to malfunction of equipment;
- Conducts, oversees, supervise, all structural improvements, installations, replacements, modifications and overall repairs of facility;
- Responsible for maintaining the building structure, building equipment, kitchen equipment, and operations equipment;
- Establishes and monitors training of personnel working within area of supervision. Performs evaluations to assist in measuring the success of the training and ultimately the fit of the employee in current position;
- Maintains a safe environment by moving or clearing equipment;
- Insures facility general appearance and sanitation, as well as equipment status;
- Responsible for 2 facilities (Main Facility & Bakery Facility);
- Prepares schedules, conducts budgeting for services, trains new employees;
- If staff is unable to perform the work, will take over to get it done, if unable to do so will contact and coordinate outside vendors/contractors to do the work;
- Oversee work from outside vendors/contractors;
- Review and authorize billing expenses for services, parts, and equipment while maintaining and documenting all records;
- Supervises employees responsible for minor repairs to building, building equipment, operations equipment, bakery equipment, and kitchen equipment;
- Inspects and insures that trucks are working properly;
- Planning, diagnosis, hands-on assistance for plumbing, mechanical repairs, electrical repairs, electromechanical repairs, as well as building wellness;
Safety:
- Preform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including but not limited to lifting, climbing, etc
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
