Junior Mechanical Engineer

Hackney Ladish Inc
Russellville, AR Full Time
POSTED ON 7/18/2026 CLOSED ON 8/12/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Mechanical Engineer position at Hackney Ladish Inc?

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will work directly under the lead Mechanical Engineer to support a highvolume industrial manufacturing facility. This is a "hands-on" engineering position that blends technical design with practical, floor-level problem-solving.

This is an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys seeing their designs transition from a digital model to a physical reality on the factory floor and seeing the direct impact of their work on production output.

You will assist in the execution of major capital projects and the integration of new equipment, while also having opportunities to take full ownership of specific production and maintenance engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support: Assist in the planning, documentation, and installation of largescale capital equipment and facility upgrades, as well as day-to-day work to support production improvements, improvements to existing machinery, and helping to digitize legacy engineering drawings from the companies founding engineers that are still used today.

Design & Drafting: Utilize CAD software (Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD/Fusion360) to create and update technical drawings, equipment layouts, and custom replacement parts.

Reverse Engineering: Assist in reverse engineering of legacy components using traditional measuring tools and the opportunity to learn to use our newly purchased 3D scanner.

Production Troubleshooting: Opportunities to work collaboratively and take the lead on diagnosing mechanical failures and implementing permanent engineering solutions to reduce production downtime.

Compliance & Safety: Collaborate with our safety officer to ensure all project and equipment modifications adhere to industrial safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Ideally 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This experience does not have to be in an engineering capacity, and we are willing to consider candidates with less experience who have demonstrated a high technical aptitude and ability to figure out solutions to problems they haven’t encountered previously.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Good foundational knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD modeling with interest in continuing to grow their skill in this area.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and basic electrical components.

Problem-Solving: A natural inclination for mechanical repair and a "boots-on-the-ground" approach to engineering.

Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance staff, machine operators, and senior management.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.

Why Join Our Team?

While you will be provided an office for your convenience, this position offers a unique opportunity to avoid the typical office grind. While computer work is a big part of this, you won't just be sitting behind a desk; you will be an integral part of the facility's growth and modernization, gaining exposure to everything from legacy machinery to assisting in management of modernization projects such as CNC machines and robotics.
