Summary of Responsibilities
Hackley School seeks a qualified and enthusiastic English teacher to serve as a leave replacement from February through May 2026. The position includes responsibility for four sections total: two sections of seniors and two sections of 10th grade English.
Reporting Structure
The Upper School English Teacher – Leave Replacement reports to the English Department Chair and the Director of the Upper School.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have prior teaching experience and strong subject-area knowledge in English/literature and writing instruction. Experience working with secondary-level students and a commitment to thoughtful, student-centered pedagogy are preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to implement existing curricula, support students’ analytical reading and writing skills, and collaborate as needed with members of the English department.

- Background in teaching English at the secondary level (preferred)
- Strong content knowledge in literature, writing, and discussion-based instruction
- Ability to step into an established curriculum and maintain continuity
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this leave replacement position is a prorated amount between $74,006–$112,853, based on years of experience as published in Hackley’s faculty salary stage scale.
