Leave Replacement Health and Physical Education Teacher

Summary of Responsibilities 
Hackley is seeking an experienced Health and Physical Education teacher to be a  leave replacement from January 2026 to June 2026. Teachers may teach up to four sections per school day. Additional opportunities to coach in the Middle and Upper School divisions for spring sports.

Reporting Structure 
The Health and Physical Education Teacher reports to the Department Chair of Physical Education, Chair of Health Education, and the directors of the Middle and Upper Schools.

Specific Responsibilities 

• Teach multiple sections of health and/or physical education for students in grades K through 8
• Implement the Hackley School health and physical education curricula
• Ability to promote and manage a healthy learning environment that motivates and inspires students to participate and learn new skills
• Demonstrate the ability to coach a variety of sports such as squash, softball, and  track and field
• Assume and fulfil additional duties as required by the position

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Experience teaching Physical Education in a K-12 learning environment
• Undergraduate Degree in Physical Education or Health Education; Master's Degree preferred
• Experience in swim instruction; Lifeguarding certificate preferred
• Knowledge of the National and New York State Teaching Standards for Physical Education

Salary and Benefits:

The current salary range for this position is a prorated amount between $74,006–$112,853, with experience informing the base salary as published in Hackley’s faculty salary stage scale.
