Get to Know Your Team:
- Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.
Responsibilities
- The Histotechnician functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for pre-analytical specimen preparation and processing; embedding, microtomy, and maintaining the equipment under the direction of the Histology/Pathology department leadership, Pathologist, or designee.
- The position may also perform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist.
- All duties performed will be within the guidelines set forth by regulatory and hospital guidelines to maintain, manage, and assure specimen integrity.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Associate's degree in histotechnology, laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR education/training equivalent.
ASCP or equivalent certification as a histotechnician.
Experience within a clinical or anatomic pathology department.
Must possess good writing and verbal skills.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 6 months’ experience as a Histotechnician
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
