Responsibilities
The Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department. With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation and testing specific to the pathology/histology department.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
OR
Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical, or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
ASCP or equivalent.
Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
If certification lapses, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
Experience as a Histology Technologist.
Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
1 years’ experience with high complexity testing in Pathology.
Overall knowledge of lab operations, including quality control, safety, and problem-solving.
Shows evidence of leadership skills in managing people.
Knowledge of department shift operations.
Problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Certification as a Histotechnologist.
Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
