CCOMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

Hackel Construction | Ord, Nebraska

TAKE OWNERSHIP. LEAD PEOPLE. DELIVER RESULTS.

Are you someone who naturally thinks ahead, creates order, takes ownership, and gets things done?

Hackel Construction is looking for an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager who brings together people, processes, schedules, and financials to deliver exceptional projects.

You see the big picture without losing sight of the details. You build strong relationships, anticipate challenges, make decisions, and follow through.

You don't just manage projects. You own the outcome.

WHO WE ARE

Since 2002, Hackel Construction has completed 265 projects across 50 Nebraska communities through Design-Build, Construction Management, and General Contracting.

Our mission is simple: Make building easier—and more enjoyable.

We believe exceptional projects begin with exceptional people. We value ownership, disciplined processes, clear communication, strong relationships, and a genuine commitment to doing things well.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'll lead commercial construction projects from handoff through closeout, serving as the central connection between Owners, Superintendents, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and Hackel leadership.

You'll bring clarity to complexity, keep people aligned, and drive projects forward.

At any given moment, you'll know:

Where are we? Where are we going? What's at risk? Who needs to know? What's next?

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Project Leadership & Execution — Take ownership of project scope, contracts, planning, scheduling, coordination, risk management, and successful completion.

Client Experience — Build trust, communicate proactively, protect the Owner's best interest, and deliver solutions that make the building experience easier.

Schedule & Priorities — Drive milestones, procurement, approvals, and critical decisions. Anticipate roadblocks and keep projects moving.

Financial Performance — Own project budgets, cost forecasting, commitments, pay applications, change orders, contingency, and profitability. Know your numbers and manage them.

Trade Partner Relationships — Coordinate subcontractors and vendors, communicate clear expectations, build productive relationships, and follow through on commitments.

Organization & Processes — Maintain accurate, accessible, and current project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, submittals, schedules, cost reports, and closeout records.

Team Leadership — Work shoulder to shoulder with Superintendents and field teams. Remove obstacles, solve problems, make timely decisions, and create accountability with kindness.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 7 years of commercial construction experience preferred, including project management or comparable leadership responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, forecasts, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to navigate challenging conversations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with Owners, design professionals, subcontractors, and field teams.
  • Experience with Design-Build, Construction Management, or General Contracting strongly valued.
  • An owner's mindset: You take initiative, solve problems, and accept responsibility for results.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

ON TIME — Milestones are clear, priorities are managed, and projects move forward.

FINANCIALLY SOUND — Budgets are understood, costs are controlled, and profitability is protected.

ORGANIZED — Project information is accurate, accessible, and up to date.

PROACTIVE — Risks are anticipated, problems are addressed early, and solutions are ready.

WELL COMMUNICATED — Everyone knows what matters, what's expected, and what happens next.

RELATIONSHIP-DRIVEN — Clients, team members, and trade partners feel respected, informed, and confident.

FINISHED STRONG — Projects are delivered with quality, professionalism, and a disciplined closeout.

OUR CULTURE

At Hackel, how we work matters just as much as what we build.

Our core values guide our decisions, relationships, and expectations:

  • We Lead with Compassion.
  • We Protect a Gossip-Free Culture.
  • We Protect the Owner's Best Interest.
  • We Enjoy Coming to Work and Have Fun in the Process.
  • We Hold Each Other Accountable with Kindness and Navigate Hard Conversations with Skill.
  • We Are Always Growing.

We believe high standards and strong relationships belong together.

WHY HACKEL?

Meaningful Projects. Real Ownership. Lasting Impact.

You'll lead commercial projects that strengthen Nebraska communities while working directly with company leadership, experienced Superintendents, Estimators, clients, and trade partners.

You'll have the authority to lead, the responsibility to deliver, and the opportunity to shape how we build.

Your judgment will be trusted. Your ideas will be heard. Your contributions will be visible.

And years from now, you'll drive through Nebraska communities and see the lasting results of work you helped bring to life.

If you're a Project Manager who leads with ownership, brings order to complexity, values relationships, and takes pride in delivering exceptional results, we want to meet you.
