The Work

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current DoD Top Secret SCI with Polygraph

One Of The Following Educational Backgrounds

  • A High School Diploma or GED plus four (4) years of general software engineering experience or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • Write simple data queries for current or planned databases/repositories.
  • **Debugging & Maintenance**
  • Identify defects in existing code, debug, and apply corrective fixes.
  • Modify software to resolve errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • **Testing & Validation**
  • Assist in creating and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Document test results and ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • **Documentation & Process Improvement**
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Recommend enhancements to documentation standards and overall software development processes.
  • Lead project teams at the appropriate level for the chosen development methodology.
  • Work closely with users, system engineers, and other stakeholders to analyze system flow, data usage, and work processes, and to address problem areas.

Ability To Work Remotely

Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $86,100 - $151,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
