Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Electrical System Engineering Manager (SEM)
- Collaborate with the SUPSHIP Newport News to resolve Electrical System technical matters
- Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)
- Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs
- Coordinate with NAVAIR and NAVSEA Engineering Agents and Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP, Newport News Shipbuilding, & other activities
- Provide technical leadership to calculate and assess risk associated with technical issues and key events
- Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide written technical recommendations
- Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for changes
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- 10 years of experience working electrical engineering or related on navy ships or in a shipyard
- Experience with aircraft carrier electrical systems
- Prior experience with Navy/DOW and Naval Nuclear propulsion
- Experience with CVN 78 class Power Generation and Distribution, including medium voltage switchboards, transforms and 450V load centers; Electrical Equipment including generators, motors, pumps, circuit breakers, and motor controllers; and Control Systems
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an active United States Government Secret security clearance.
- Candidate will be required to obtain an interim Secret clearance before onboarding
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
Salary : $170,000
