The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. This position is part of the Research & Development Chemistry team, located in Ames, IO, and will be Onsite.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Developing and validating new chemical analysis methods for Hach instrumentation through independent research.
- Creating reagent formulations, calibrations, and quality control procedures with minimal supervision.
- Collaborating with marketing, engineering, and operations to commercialize new or modified products and applications.
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship to chemists, engineers, technicians, and interns.
- Supporting manufacturing through chemistry expertise, training, and problem‑solving to improve production efficiency.
- Documenting development work, reviewing competitive literature, and translating market needs into product design decisions.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with 0–2 years of experience; OR M.S. with 5 years; OR B.S. with 12 years of direct experience in chemistry manufacturing, product development, or R&D.
- Demonstrated ability in chemistry design, characterization, functional testing, and problem‑solving.
- Expert‑level proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
