Habitat for Humanity ReStore – Rockford, IL

Full-Time | $18.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

We're looking for a dependable, customer-focused Donation Receiving Clerk to help process donations, assist customers and donors, and support our mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

What You'll Do

As a Donation Receiving Clerk, you'll play an important role in keeping donations flowing efficiently while providing outstanding service to our donors and customers. Your responsibilities will include:

Donation Receiving & ReStore Operations

• Welcome and assist donors dropping off items with friendly, professional customer service.
• Evaluate donated items for resale and handle merchandise carefully to prevent damage.
• Move donations to the sales floor or warehouse based on inventory needs.
• Prepare and stage sold merchandise for customer pickup.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
• Assist with general warehouse and ReStore operations as needed.

Truck Support (Occasional)

You'll also be trained to serve as a backup driver for our donation truck when needed.
Responsibilities may include:

• Driving the ReStore truck when regular drivers are unavailable due to scheduled time off or call-ins.
• Riding along to pick up donations from homes and businesses.
• Loading, securing, and unloading donated items safely and efficiently.
• Representing Habitat for Humanity professionally during off-site donation pickups.

What We're Looking For

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and move 50 pounds or more.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Professionalism and a commitment to Habitat for Humanity's mission.
• Truck driving experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
