Position Objective
At Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia (“HFHP”) we are builders who work alongside, not for others. We are driven by accountability and defined by our stick-to-itiveness. The Volunteer Coordinator will support Habitat’s volunteer force working with individuals, groups, and non-construction volunteers in conjunction with the Volunteer Manager. The individual will be responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with volunteers to increase support and build capacity for the organization. This position will assist in responding to all volunteer inquiries, organizing and scheduling volunteer shifts and working in growing the pool of regular, committed volunteers which our programs rely on.
Key Responsibilities of Position
Volunteer Scheduling and Relations

Respond appropriately and in a timely fashion to all volunteer, group, & service inquiries and scheduling-related correspondence.

In partnership with Build and ReStore staff, support the Volunteer Manager in determining volunteer needs for project sites.

Schedule individual and group volunteers, strategically balancing available opportunities.

Maintain and update volunteer opportunities posted on Volunteer Scheduling System, and update to reflect the changing needs of projects.

Assist scheduling all partner families for sweat equity, in coordination with Homeowner Services.

Ensure that volunteers receive informative, targeted communications including e-news, event updates, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Coordinate volunteer photographer schedule for team build days and special events.

Serve as liaison between volunteers and Habitat staff.

Facilitate volunteer days as needed, including Adirondack Builds, Saturday Builds as needed, and regular group Build Days.

Assist in planning and organizing Martin Luther King Day of Service volunteer event.
Recruitment and Outreach

Schedule and facilitate regular volunteer orientations (twice per month).

Build and maintain relationships with skilled, returning and/or donating volunteers.

Assist with recruiting and retaining volunteers with specialized skills (construction, retail and committee-related).

Schedule and communicate with groups of volunteers including Corporate Teams, Campus Chapters and Faith Community members.
Retention/Appreciation/Reporting

Develop and implement plans to appreciate volunteers formally and informally, including creating and executing an annual volunteer appreciation event.

Assist in Volunteer Recognition efforts. This may include volunteer interviews, profiles in newsletters, e-news features, etc.

Visit and/or work at project sites as needed to build relationships and help coordinate during certain special events.

Collect measurable data in relations to volunteer numbers, volunteer retention, & volunteer conversion and share in monthly reporting methods.

Monitor volunteer satisfaction through occasional evaluations/surveys or phone calls.
Administrative Coordination

Maintain volunteer data and volunteer records, including sign-in sheets, liability waivers, youth release forms, etc.

Implement appropriate policies for volunteers completing court-ordered community service, and for volunteers under the age of 18.

Assist in maintaining, updating, and improving volunteer management policies and procedures as necessary.

Be a resource for individuals calling Habitat looking for housing assistance.

Pull volunteer data reports for Habitat International, quarterly Development Team reports and others as needed.
Qualifications
Requirements:

An interest in non-profit work and enthusiastic about Habitat for Humanity’s Mission.

Detail oriented and highly organized.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to self-direct, self-motivate and multi-task.

Experience working with volunteers, speaking to groups and or group facilitation.

Ability to effectively work with volunteers of varied backgrounds, skills and experience.

Experience in customer service.

Experience with Salesforce, GivePulse, or similar CRM system.
