Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia is seeking a Construction Crew Fellow to support building and repair projects. This is a 12-month temporary, full-time position.
Position Overview:
The Construction Crew Fellow plays an integral role in building and repairing homes while leading groups of volunteers and homeowners on-site. This position focuses on maintaining a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment while developing construction and volunteer management skills.
This role is primarily based in Northern Virginia.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with hands-on construction tasks including demolition, site preparation, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, carpentry, and landscaping
- Lead small groups of volunteers and ensure a safe and positive experience on-site
- Maintain construction site safety and follow all safety guidelines
- Provide on-site orientations and safety instructions to volunteers and homeowners
- Support materials management, including organizing and transporting materials
- Set up and clean up job sites
- Maintain project logs and assist with progress tracking
- Participate in team meetings and occasional community projects
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups
- Experience working with teams or volunteers is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in physically active environments
Compensation & Benefits:
$18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience
