The Home Journey Counseling Supervisor for the Homeownership Program leads and manages housing counseling services that prepare and support prospective homeowners participating in the Habitat for Humanity homeownership program. This role supervises housing counselors, ensures high-quality client service delivery, and oversees individual financial education, mortgage readiness preparation, and homebuyer support services. The Home Journey Counseling Supervisor is responsible for maintaining compliance with housing counseling standards, grant requirements, and internal policies while ensuring that partner families receive the education and resources needed to achieve sustainable homeownership. This position works closely with program leadership, lending staff, and community partners to ensure a coordinated and effective homeownership experience.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the Counseling Team
- Supervise, coach, and mentor Home Journey Housing Counselors, fostering strong performance and professional growth.
- Set clear expectations, goals, and metrics while leading quarterly and annual performance reviews.
- Build a positive, inclusive, and mission-centered team culture.
Oversee Homeownership Counseling Services
- Ensure delivery of high-quality financial coaching, homebuyer education, and mortgage readiness support.
- Collaborate with the Family Placement team to align counseling services with home selection and purchase readiness.
- Maintain steady referral flow to education services and post-close homeowner support opportunities.
Manage Programs, Pipelines & Compliance
- Oversee the Home Journey Housing Counseling Program’s strategic and tactical plans in alignment with organizational goals.
- Manage the workforce housing pipeline, ensuring accurate data tracking and reporting in collaboration with Development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and requirements (e.g., ABA, state training, grant reporting).
- Manage housing counseling software, including updates, system improvements, and staff training.
Collaborate Across the Organization
- Partner closely with program leadership, lending staff, development, operations, and community partners.
- Support the launch and ongoing management of workforce housing pilots and initiatives.
- Coordinate hand-offs and communication across Family Services teams for a seamless client experience.
- Present program information to partner agencies and support outreach efforts as needed.
Measure Impact & Share Stories
- Track outcomes, analyze performance, and recommend program improvements.
- Ensure program data is accurate and accessible for reporting and decision-making.
- Collect stories and success metrics for Development and Communications teams to support fundraising and community engagement.

What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, community relations, psychology, or a related field.
- Homebuyer Education and Counseling Training (HUD, NeighborWorks, or comparable) preferred.
- 5 years of experience in housing, social services, nonprofit programs, or community development.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations; ELL support experience preferred.
