ReStore Assistant Manager

Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley (Habitat) is a dynamic, progressive nonprofit organization that seeks to enrich our whole community through a legacy of affordable homeownership. Since 1989, Habitat has built/renovated and sold nearly 300 affordable homes completed more than 10,500 home repairs and engaged thousands of residents in neighborhood revitalization efforts.

Position Overview

Habitat is seeking a responsible individual to work on our team to coordinate the day-to-day operations of our ReStore. The ReStore is a retail business that sells donated building materials, furniture and appliances at discounted prices to generate revenue to support the mission of Habitat.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with people, managing multiple projects and team members and making an impact in the community.

The ReStore Assistant Manager position is an hourly, full-time position (40 hours per week) Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-6pm reporting to the ReStore Manager. The starting pay range is $24 -$26/hour, based on experience. Ideal start date is mid to late August.

Key Responsibilities

·      Assist in recruiting, hiring and training ReStore staff and oversee staff scheduling

·      Work in conjunction with the ReStore manager to develop and maintain operations within the annual operating budget

·      Oversee effective merchandising of store floor, maximizing available display space using inventory control and pricing to ensure turnover of merchandise

·      Work with organization staff to effectively recruit, retain and engage volunteers in the store

·      Ensure policies and procedures are being followed for safe and successful performance in all aspects of the ReStore

·      Ensure compliance with all financial reporting, reconciling daily sales and daily close-out of all financial transactions

·      Ability to work independently, stay organized and manage competing priorities

·      Ability to provide leadership and work well in a collaborative team environment

·      Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new systems

·      Valid  driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

·      3 years of relevant experience in a retail setting

·      High school Diploma or equivalent (such as GED or HiSET) required; some college preferred

·      Experience managing staff and building teams

·      Familiarity with re-sale operations

Physical Abilities Necessary (in accordance with ADA)

·      Sit, walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time

·      Use all senses including, but not limited to, sight and hearing

·      Stand, stoop, bend, grasp, hold, carry load and/or unload items to complete job duties

·      Work in non-temperature-controlled conditions

·      Safely  lift at least 25 pounds on a regular and frequent basis

Background Check

All employees are subject to a sex offender registry check and driving record check. To drive a Habitat vehicle or a personal vehicle for Habitat business, employees must be at least 21 years of age with no more than 2 speeding tickets in 2 years. Employees must not have reckless driving or DUI in the previous 5-year period.
