Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley (Habitat) is a dynamic, progressive nonprofit organization that seeks to enrich our whole community through a legacy of affordable homeownership. Since 1989, Habitat has built/renovated and sold more than 295 affordable homes, completed more than 10,500 home repairs, and engaged thousands of residents in neighborhood revitalization efforts.
Position Overview
Habitat is seeking a Home Improvement Coordinator to support critical home repair and neighborhood improvement initiatives, primarily in Ypsilanti. This role serves as a key connection between residents, contractors, volunteers, and Habitat staff, helping homeowners access services that improve safety, comfort, and quality of life.

- The Home Improvement Coordinator is an hourly, full-time position (40 hours per week) reporting to Claire Simpson, Home Improvement Program Manager. The starting pay rate is $24-26/hour, based on experience. Ideal start date would be in early July, 2026, though we are open to discussing alternative timelines for the right candidate.
The Home Improvement Coordinator’s usual schedule is Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm. To meet residents at convenient times, and to support Habitat events such as “Rock the Block!” project days, the Home Improvement Coordinator will need to maintain a flexible schedule which may require occasional early morning, evening, or Saturday hours.
Habitat employs a remote-work model. The Home Improvement Coordinator will be in the field frequently and must have reliable personal transportation. Habitat will reimburse mileage, provide necessary technical tools to perform daily tasks and a stipend to offset remote-work costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate resident appointments through phone, email, and text.
- Meet with homeowners to assess needs, complete applications, collect documentation, obtain signatures, and monitor project progress.
- Maintain accurate program records, files, photos, and data systems.
- Collect surveys, testimonials, and impact stories that demonstrate program outcomes.
- Assist homeowners with questions regarding Habitat program participation and financial obligations.
- Support neighborhood improvement events, including Habitat's “Rock the Block!” program.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, contractors, and community partners to ensure successful project delivery.

Background check
· All employees are subject to a sex offender registry check and a driving record check. To drive a Habitat vehicle or a personal vehicle for Habitat business, employees must be at least 21 years of age with no more than 2 speeding tickets in 2 years or 3 speeding tickets in 3 years. Employees must not have reckless driving or DUI in the previous 5-year period.
