The Director of Philanthropy leads advancement strategy for Habitat for Humanity of Collin County and is personally accountable for the major gifts pipeline. The role carries a portfolio of individual and corporate donors, partners directly with the CEO on principal gift cultivation and solicitation, and sets strategy across the advancement team - including Grants & Impact, Communications & Engagement, Stewardship, and Volunteer Coordination. The position sits on the leadership team and reports to the CEO.

Location: McKinney, Texas. In-office with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Major Gifts Leadership
• Manage a personal portfolio of 100–125 qualified individual and corporate donors and prospects with a focus on five- and six-figure gifts.
• Execute moves management across the portfolio with CRM-based documentation and monthly pipeline reporting.
• Partner with the CEO on principal gift cultivation and solicitation.
• Lead capital and home sponsorship campaigns as they arise.
• Cultivate and grow corporate partnerships, including build-day sponsorships and employee giving programs.
Advancement Strategy & Team Leadership
• Set and lead advancement strategy across grants, communications, stewardship, and volunteer engagement.
• Lead grant writing strategy and oversee the grants pipeline in partnership with the Manager of Grants & Impact.
• Shape communications strategy across donor segments in partnership with the Manager of Communications & Engagement.
• Supervise the Manager of Grants & Impact, Manager of Communications & Engagement, Manager of Stewardship, and Volunteer Coordinator.
• Serve on the leadership team and contribute to organization-wide strategy.
• Own contributed revenue forecasting and monthly reporting to the CEO and Board.
• Support Board members in their fundraising roles, including preparation for asks and warm introductions.
Required Qualifications
• 5 years of frontline fundraising experience with a documented major gifts portfolio.
• Close history in the $10K–$50K range and contribution to gifts of $100K or greater.
• Demonstrated moves management discipline with CRM-based pipeline documentation.
• Systems proficiency in tracking donors, gifts, and grants using tools such as GiveEffect, Instrumentl, or similar platforms.
• Grant writing and grant management experience, including proposal development and funder cultivation.
• Communications strategy experience across donor segments, including appeals, stewardship communications, and campaign messaging.
• Strong written communication and comfort with the in-person ask.
Preferred
• Familiarity with the DFW philanthropic community, including AFP Greater Dallas, Communities Foundation of Texas, or peer institutions.
• Experience with capital campaigns, home sponsorship models, or construction-adjacent fundraising.
• CFRE credential or progress toward it.
Work Environment & Travel
• Local travel required for donor meetings, site visits, and community events across Collin County and the broader DFW area.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours required for donor events, build days, and community engagements.
• Must be able to visit active construction sites, which may involve walking on uneven terrain and exposure to outdoor conditions.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $70,000-$85,000 with performance incentive based on major gifts revenue above baseline.
