Basic Function:
Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland is looking for a seasoned bookkeeper to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting and bookkeeping, and experience maintaining accurate financial records, accounts receivables and accounts payables. A background in non-profit accounting is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, staff reimbursements, and credit card accounts
· Responsible for making remote and in-person bank deposits
· Help record and maintain financial information into the general ledger as needed, including bank deposits
· Input daily sales for ReStores in QuickBooks, tracking cash donations and creating reports needed
· Help compute, record, and process monthly close out procedures and prepare bank reconciliations for review
· Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems including payroll, Divvy, Bill.com, etc.
· Maintain excellent financial controls, policies, and procedures
· Prepare daily and weekly bank deposits
· Ensure that all general ledger journal entries, prepaid expenses & accruals are inputted into the system
· Resolve billing and payment issues for vendors as needed, for administration and construction
· Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for affiliate
· Ensure that all financial activities meet GAAP standards
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance. Have good working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Payroll processing experience required
· Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, as well as Microsoft Office (specifically skilled with Excel spreadsheets). Knowledge of Bill.com is helpful.
· Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly.
· Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy is required. Experience with bookkeeping and data entry
· Microsoft Office Suite and internet skills
· Exceptional verbal communications and writing skills
· Customer service attitude
· Willing to work with and help staff members
· Maintain confidentiality of Habitat records
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
· Manual dexterity and visual acuity for table and computer use
· Able to utilize the telephone to communicate with others, inside and outside office environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
