What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Worker position at Habersham County Board of Commissioners?
This position is responsible for parks and grounds maintenance including landscaping and
custodial duties.
Major Duties:
• Performs turf maintenance activities at soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields;
pulverizes and smooths baseball infields; aerates fields; applies herbicides and pesticides
as needed.
- Performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed-eating, and operating field
sprinkler system.
- Maintains scoreboards.
- Maintains ball fields by cutting grass, applying lines to fields, and picking up trash.
- Maintains the grounds at county facilities by cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, and
edging lawns.
- Performs all custodial duties assigned including but not limited to cleaning locker rooms,
vacuuming floors, cleaning of ball field restrooms.
- Performs routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, including
checking fluid levels, replacing blades, and performing minor repairs.
- Replaces light bulbs in department offices and at ball fields and tennis courts.
- Performs plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work as needed.
- Removes trash from parks.
- May operate concession stand as needed.
- Completes special assignments off campus as instructed by supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of
Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides
the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
