Parks Maintenance Worker

This position is responsible for parks and grounds maintenance including landscaping and

custodial duties.

Major Duties:

• Performs turf maintenance activities at soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields;

pulverizes and smooths baseball infields; aerates fields; applies herbicides and pesticides

as needed.

• Performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed-eating, and operating field

sprinkler system.

• Maintains scoreboards.
• Maintains ball fields by cutting grass, applying lines to fields, and picking up trash.
• Maintains the grounds at county facilities by cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, and

edging lawns.

• Performs all custodial duties assigned including but not limited to cleaning locker rooms,

vacuuming floors, cleaning of ball field restrooms.

• Performs routine maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, including

checking fluid levels, replacing blades, and performing minor repairs.

• Replaces light bulbs in department offices and at ball fields and tennis courts.
• Performs plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical work as needed.
• Removes trash from parks.
• May operate concession stand as needed.
• Completes special assignments off campus as instructed by supervisor.
• Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of

Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

• Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides

the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
