Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
A Heavy Equipment Technician will perform a variety of duties to keep the various types of heavy equipment running properly. This includes maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and tools, and performing routine maintenance. This position will entail a mix of hand-on wrenching, troubleshooting, and working with a team to keep the fleet moving.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Repairing and maintaining engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
· Perform preventative and routine maintenance/inspections on heavy equipment.
· Inspecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues with heavy equipment.
· Weld or fabricate items as needed. · Perform field services. · Operates various tools, machines, and equipment as needed. · Properly disposes of hazardous materials and recyclables. · Keep accurate service records and logs. · Work closely with Shop Foreman and other Technicians.· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop area.
· Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
· Education: Technical training in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, heavy equipment maintenance, or related field OR High School Diploma or GED with equivalent work experience · Experience: Experience working on diesel trucks or heavy equipment · Driver’s License: CDL preferred but not required· Able to read and interpret maintenance manuals and manufacturer’s instructions · Working knowledge of mechanical functions, internal combustion and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatics· Able to work overtime as required
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
· Lifting up to 50lbs· Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing under trucks and equipment · Working with grease, oil, fuels, and shop chemicals · Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment · Mix of indoor shop work and occasional outdoor/field work

Pay: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour
