Position Overview

Haas Hall Academy Fort Smith is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-focused Spanish Faculty member to join our award-winning college preparatory school. This adjunct, part-time position consists of teaching one instructional block per day to scholars in grades 9–12.

The ideal candidate is passionate about world languages and cultures, committed to academic excellence, and dedicated to preparing scholars to become confident communicators in Spanish while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous Spanish instruction aligned with Arkansas Academic Standards and the mission of Haas Hall Academy.
  • Teach Spanish courses for scholars in grades 9–12.
  • Develop lesson plans that promote proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish.
  • Incorporate authentic cultural experiences and real-world language applications into classroom instruction.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and academically challenging classroom environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to support the diverse learning needs of scholars.
  • Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grade records, and student progress reports.
  • Communicate effectively with scholars, parents/guardians, faculty, and administration regarding student achievement and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities as appropriate for a part-time faculty member.
  • Uphold all Haas Hall Academy policies, procedures, and professional expectations.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Foreign Language, Education, or a closely related field.
  • Current Arkansas teaching license (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high academic expectations for all scholars.

Preferred

  • Previous experience teaching Spanish at the high school level.
  • Experience working in a college preparatory or academically rigorous environment.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and learning management systems.
  • Experience teaching upper-level Spanish courses or preparing students for advanced language study.

  • Passion for language acquisition and cultural education.
  • Ability to inspire scholars to become lifelong learners and global citizens.
  • Strong instructional planning and assessment practices.
  • Effective use of technology to enhance instruction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, scholars, and families.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Schedule

This is an adjunct, part-time position consisting of one instructional block per school day during the regular school year. Specific teaching times will be determined based on the campus master schedule.
