Position Summary
The Manager of Data Center Design is responsible for driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and innovation within data center design and builds. This role will work with the Project management team and Engineering to lead commissioning and align goals with operational needs and customers’ support requirements. The manager role combines strategy, facility engineering, process improvement, analytics, and emerging technology adoption to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of data center operations.
The Manager of Data Center Design reports to the SVP/VP, Operations.
Essential Job Functions

Operational Excellence:
- Lead initiatives to optimize data center design and operations using Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL, and other methodologies.
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and risks; develop and implement corrective actions.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure service quality and uptime.
- Leads commissioning of new and additions of Data Center capacity.
- Design of control strategies to optimize data center operations and monitoring.

Innovation & Transformation:
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and automation tools to improve infrastructure and workflows.
- Define basis of design and build standards while keeping up with changing customer requirements and operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, facilities, IT security, etc.) to pilot and implement innovative solutions.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the data center design and project teams.

Project & Program Management:
- Manage strategic projects focused on cost reduction, energy efficiency, and scalability.
- Establish the design concept and complete feasibility study to ensure project success
- Build a project team including architect and engineering resources to support the project
- Create capex budget for project and work with engineering and finance to validate the budget
- Lead selection process and manage general contracts to ensure on-time and on-budget project completion
- Lead cross-departmental improvement programs with clear timelines, ROI, and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure alignment between design efforts and business goals.
- Quality control and Operational readiness of data center projects

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts and engineers.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement design and build strategies with concentration on continuous improvement.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and reports on performance and innovation metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering related fields (Master’s preferred).

10 years of experience in data center design, operations, infrastructure management, Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with design of different system redundancy options such as block and distributed redundancy, more specifically power striping and allocation.
- Data hall design for high-density power solutions using air-cooled and water-cooled solutions
- Knowledge of transient analysis to ensure that data center systems operate efficiently and meet the SLA requirements in all operating conditions
- Experience on CFD analysis to ensure proper performance of cooling system in different operating conditions
- Design of control strategies for optimize data center PUE
- Proven experience in leading continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of data center technologies (cooling, power, networking, virtualization, etc.).
- Certifications such as CDCDP, PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma (Black/Green Belt) are highly desirable.
- Experience in designing and build of different tier and redundancy architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in hyperscale or large enterprise data centers.
- Knowledge of ESG practices and data center sustainability strategies.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure support requirements.
- Experience in implementing high density compute environments.
Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
