What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Training Engineer position at h2x?
Technical Training Engineer
San Diego, CA | Hybrid (3 days in office) | Full-Time
About the Role
We're looking for a Technical Training Engineer to help our customers get proficient on H2X
quickly and keep them winning over time. You'll run training sessions, answer technical
questions, build training materials, and be the friendly technical face customers interact with as
they learn the platform.
H2X is a cloud-based engineering design platform used by mechanical and plumbing engineers
to design building services. Our customers are design consultants, commercial contractors, and
UFH/RFH specialists. The product is technical and the buyer is nuanced, so you need to come
from an engineering background yourself. We need someone who can talk shop with a
mechanical engineer, explain a complex workflow clearly, and leave the customer more
confident than they were an hour ago.
This is a customer-facing, hands-on role. If you love the delivery side more than the design side,
and you enjoy helping other engineers get great at something new, you'll enjoy this.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead training sessions for new and existing customers, including group sessions, 1:1
walkthroughs, and deep-dive workshops.
• Answer technical questions from customers during and after training, pulling in support
where needed.
• Build and maintain training materials (videos, guides, quick reference sheets) that scale
your impact.
• Work with Customer Success to shape the onboarding journey so customers reach
proficiency faster.
• Feed recurring questions, confusion points, and product gaps back to Product and
Engineering.
• Stay close to real design work so your training stays grounded in how engineers actually
use the tool.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Background in mechanical engineering.
• Experience using design software like AutoCAD.
• Enjoys speaking to people, building relationships, and answering technical questions.
• Patient and engaging. Can explain complex topics clearly to people with different
experience levels.
• Fun and friendly. Customers should finish a session feeling better, not worse.
Preferred
• Experience in building services (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, hydraulics, UFH/RFH).
• Prior experience using H2X.
• Experience in a customer-facing role (training, support, applications engineering).
• Comfortable working across multiple time zones.
What We Offer
• Hybrid working: 3 days per week in our San Diego office, 2 days remote.
• A friendly, hands-on team who care about the craft.
• Real ownership over how we train customers.
• Early-stage company with influence over how things are built.
• A team that takes customers seriously but doesn't take itself too seriously.
Notes
• This is a customer-facing role. If you'd rather be heads-down designing, this isn't the
right fit.
• We move fast. If you are used to large enterprise orgs with long ramp periods, this may
not be the right fit.
