Fire Sprinkler Designer / Project Manager
H2O Fire Protection Inc. is a family-owned fire sprinkler contractor established in 1987 and widely respected within the life safety industry. We specialize in the design, coordination, installation, inspection, service, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer / Project Manager to oversee projects from initial design through final closeout.
Job Type: Full-time, In-Office
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on experience) Bonus
Position Summary
This role is responsible for the design, coordination, and project management of automatic fire sprinkler systems throughout the full project lifecycle. Projects may include tenant improvements, NFPA 13D single-family residences, NFPA 13R low-rise and garden-style apartment buildings, mid-rise and high-rise multifamily projects, and other applications.
The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with architects, general contractors, BIM teams, field installation crews, and other MEP trades to deliver code-compliant, efficient, and cost-effective fire protection systems.
This role's primary focus is to manage fire sprinkler projects typically ranging from $500,000 to $2M , including multifamily projects ranging from units.
Key Responsibilities
· Review construction documents and gather required information for fire sprinkler design
· Design automatic fire sprinkler systems, including both wet and dry systems, fire pumps, and standpipe systems
· Perform hydraulic calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
· Develop detailed fire sprinkler drawings using software
· Coordinate designs with architects, general contractors, BIM teams, and other MEP trades
· Submit permit applications and secure approvals from AHJs
· Plan and manage projects post-approval, including scheduling, material takeoffs, purchasing, and delivery coordination
· Analyze design changes, resolve technical issues, and support field installation as needed
· Maintain as-built drawings, purchase orders, progress billings, and final closeout documentation
· Visit job sites as needed to address field questions and verify installation progress
· Maintain professional communication with clients, contractors, installers, and vendors
· Build and maintain positive working relationships with AHJs and industry partners
Required Knowledge and Skills
· Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, and 20
· Ability to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills throughout design and project execution
· Focus on constructability, cost efficiency, and field-friendly designs
· Ability to solve problems and research answers in a fluid project environment
Qualifications
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience in fire sprinkler system design
· Proficiency with AutoSPRINK fire sprinkler design software
· Prior project management experience
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· Ability and willingness to provide examples of past design work as references
