The Position
The A&P Mechanic III is responsible for advanced aircraft maintenance, inspection, and repair of airframe and powerplant systems to ensure safe and compliant flight operations. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing corrective maintenance, and interpreting technical documentation in accordance with FAA regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on aviation maintenance experience, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence in demanding aerospace and defense environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, repair, replacement, and maintenance of aircraft airframe and powerplant components
- Conduct mechanical and functional checks to ensure aircraft safety and airworthiness
- Diagnose, test, and replace defective or worn aircraft parts using approved tools and equipment
- Interpret and follow technical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and maintenance documentation
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations and applicable national and international standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Adhere to all safety protocols while maintaining a clean and organized hangar or workshop
- Operate or supervise the use of vehicles, machinery, and hazardous materials as required
- Support safety-sensitive operations involving aircraft, equipment, and materials
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No immediate direct reports
Skills & Qualifications
- Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
- Must have own tools in good working order
- Ability to speak, read and write in English
- Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test
- Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
- Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines
Preferred Experience
- FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience
- Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS)
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required
Work Environment
- On-site position located in Edwards, California
- This is a 6-month contract
Compensation
- Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $33 - $42, with additional benefits
Requirements
- Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification
