Greenhouse work and general maintenance. Plant, tend, harvest and pack strawberry plants as directed. Workers will plant stock, set plant runners, cut and bunch runner tips, prune plants; and remove suckers, runners, weeds, leaves, blossoms and fruit from plants using tools such as hoes, pruning hooks, shears, knives, and planting aid rail system with crop cart. Move and space plants, take cuttings from plants and trim as directed, fill pots, and work with substrate, greenhouse plantings. May set up or operate greenhouse production machinery. Work is usually performed outdoors, in greenhouses, or under tunnels, sometimes under hot or cold or wet conditions. Work is physically demanding requiring workers to bend, stoop, lift and carry. One month's experience in duties listed for this position. Certain percentage of work will involve labor tasks in buffer zone areas of pesticide applications. While conducting such duties, the workers will be required to wear required personal protective equipment (for their own safety) provided by the employer. Have physical ability to carry out job wearing personal protective equipment and work in all weather. Must be able to reach, bend and lift items weighing 50 pounds repetitively throughout the workday. Must be able to work outdoors in dusty/dirty conditions, at extreme heat and cold inclement weather. Must be able to listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions of supervisors. Must be able to work in fields where ants, snakes and poison ivy are encountered. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination.
