About the Role
H2SeismicPro LLC is seeking an experienced field Construction Inspector to support a city-wide water meter and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) replacement program (approximately 4,293 meters) in Turlock, CA (Stanislaus County). You will provide full-time field inspection during construction, reporting to a licensed Resident Engineer. This is a contract/subconsultant engagement for the construction duration (approximately August through December 2026), with potential for additional public-works assignments.
Engagement: Independent contract / subconsultant public-works inspector for the construction duration (approximately August through December 2026), with potential for additional public-works assignments. The inspector will operate as an independent business or established sole proprietor, carry their own general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and invoice H2SeismicPro for services.
Compensation: $75–$110 per hour depending on experience and certifications, by negotiated contract rate.
What You Will Do
• Inspect City-furnished water meter and endpoint installations for conformance with City standards and manufacturer installation guides.
• Write daily inspection reports and document work with photos in an internet-based CM system (Virtual Project Manager).
• Verify per-meter functional testing (measured-volume bucket test, register advance, endpoint communication, leak check) and confirm corrections.
• Measure and verify pay quantities; support force-account documentation for allowance and changed work.
• Monitor contractor public notifications and the two-hour service-interruption limit; track shut-offs and customer issues by neighborhood.
• Quality-check the contractor’s new-meter documentation and data hand-off for closeout.
• Coordinate field access around concurrent City paving projects.
What You Need
• Public-works or utility construction inspection experience; water, meter, or pipeline experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with prevailing-wage / certified-payroll compliance and public-agency documentation.
• Comfort with daily digital reporting; experience with VPM, Procore, or Bluebeam a plus.
• OSHA 30 preferred; valid California driver’s license; ability to work outdoors across multiple field locations.
• ICC, NICET, or equivalent inspection certification a plus.
