As a Technical Program Manager (Audio) on our cross-platform Audio Team, you will be responsible for supporting the definition, coordination, and delivery of multiple audio-enabled Surface programs. This role requires a strong team player with experience managing complex software programs that interface closely with hardware, firmware, and driver development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage audio driver and software feature development across multiple Surface programs, coordinating delivery milestones from early prototype stages through in-market support.
- Collaborate closely with software engineering, quality, and hardware partners to plan, schedule, and release multiple software builds throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Partner with experience, firmware, and hardware teams to ensure high-quality end-to-end audio experiences that meet program goals and key performance indicators.
- Coordinate with internal Microsoft partner teams (e.g., Windows, AI, or device experiences) to define and deliver new audio-related features and functionalities.
- Support peer TPMs and engineers within the audio hardware, firmware, and software teams as needed to maintain cross-functional alignment.
Qualifications
- 4 years of program management experience in hardware, software, or device development; experience with consumer electronics preferred.
- 2 years managing programs involving firmware, hardware, or system integration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Is independent, self-sufficient, and proactive, with strong ownership of their programs.
- Strong understanding of the hardware/software development lifecycle, with proven ability to improve cross-team processes.
- Experience working with agile development methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Demonstrated ability to drive complex technical programs independently while fostering strong relationships across disciplines.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing international vendors or external partners preferred.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with audio systems, signal processing, or driver stacks, even at a conceptual level.
- Audio hobbyists (musicians, audio enthusiasts, sound designers, etc.) encouraged to apply—passion and curiosity count as much as formal experience.
- Experience delivering AI-based or sensor-driven features.
- Exposure to tuning workflows, hardware validation, or firmware bring-up.
