Are you passionate about building and delivering great devices and technologies? The Surface Team focuses on creating devices that fully express the Windows vision. A fundamental part of our strategy is developing desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences people love. Building these products involves a close partnership between experienced teams, hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing partners.

We are currently building the next generation of Surface products—and we need you!

As a Technical Program Manager (Audio) on our cross-platform Audio Team, you will be responsible for supporting the definition, coordination, and delivery of multiple audio-enabled Surface programs. This role requires a strong team player with experience managing complex software programs that interface closely with hardware, firmware, and driver development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage audio driver and software feature development across multiple Surface programs, coordinating delivery milestones from early prototype stages through in-market support.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering, quality, and hardware partners to plan, schedule, and release multiple software builds throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Partner with experience, firmware, and hardware teams to ensure high-quality end-to-end audio experiences that meet program goals and key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with internal Microsoft partner teams (e.g., Windows, AI, or device experiences) to define and deliver new audio-related features and functionalities.
  • Support peer TPMs and engineers within the audio hardware, firmware, and software teams as needed to maintain cross-functional alignment.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of program management experience in hardware, software, or device development; experience with consumer electronics preferred.
  • 2 years managing programs involving firmware, hardware, or system integration with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Is independent, self-sufficient, and proactive, with strong ownership of their programs.
  • Strong understanding of the hardware/software development lifecycle, with proven ability to improve cross-team processes.
  • Experience working with agile development methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex technical programs independently while fostering strong relationships across disciplines.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing international vendors or external partners preferred.
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with audio systems, signal processing, or driver stacks, even at a conceptual level.
  • Audio hobbyists (musicians, audio enthusiasts, sound designers, etc.) encouraged to apply—passion and curiosity count as much as formal experience.
  • Experience delivering AI-based or sensor-driven features.
  • Exposure to tuning workflows, hardware validation, or firmware bring-up.
