Site Safety Manager
Utility Scale Solar Site – 119MW
1.5 Hour West of Richmond, VA
Compensation: $110k-$120k $180/day Per Diem Bonus Benefits

Privately held renewable energy developer and EPC specializing in utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across the United States with a powerful business pipeline with repeat customers is actively recruiting a Safety Manager for their team! This is an immediate opening working onsite overseeing the Safety team.
General Manager – Solar Utility:
The Site Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing all health and safety programs on a utility-scale solar construction site. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture among all employees, subcontractors, and visitors. The Site Safety Manager serves as the primary point of contact for all site safety matters. Additional responsibilities include:
• Lead and manage all site safety operations for solar construction activities.
• Enforce site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plans.
• Serve as the on-site safety authority, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, presence, and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
• Maintain all required safety documentation, logs, and reports.
• Coordinate and manage site safety meetings, including daily briefings and weekly toolbox talks.
• Conduct new-hire safety orientations for employees and subcontractors.
• Provide ongoing safety training (e.g., fall protection, electrical safety, equipment operation).
• Mentor and guide field supervisors and subcontractors on safe work practices.
• Communicate safety expectations clearly across all levels of the project.
• Lead incident investigations, including near misses, injuries, and property damage.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain incident records and ensure timely reporting.
• Maintain a strong field presence to identify hazards in real time.
• Monitor high-risk activities such as:
· Heavy equipment operation
· Electrical work (DC/AC systems)
· Trenching and excavation
· Material handling and deliveries in congested areas
• Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
• Evaluate subcontractor safety performance and compliance.
• Conduct pre-task planning reviews (PTPs/JHAs).
• Hold subcontractors accountable to site safety expectations.
Qualifications:
• 5 years of onsite Construction Safety Experience for heavy construction or renewable EPC projects
o Solar utility experience heavily preferred
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and EPC safety practices
o OSHA 30-hour Certification
• Able to work onsite in VA
• BS in Safety, STEM or related preferred
• CSP Certification preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
