Title:ABA (Applied Behavior Analyst) Technician
Position:The ABA Technician will be employed to support and assist in the specialized daily instructional and physical needs of
Special Education Students.
Qualifications:Associates Degree required. College level training in education and/or childcare is highly desirable.
Reports to:Special Education and Classroom Teachers
Work Year:10-month school year position – 182 Days
Specific Duties
1. Primary responsibility is to assist special education students with low cognitive ability, and/or ASD, and/or behavioral issues
(ABA), and/or American Sign Language (ASL) needs and significant physical needs.
Follow student specific guidelines for:
Complete discrete trails; implement behavior plans and data collection as determined by team or specialized teacher.
Respond to physical needs of student(s) including positioning, lifting, and self-help skills.
Assist individual students with personal care such as toileting issues and feeding or teaching of utensil use.
Follow the Norfolk Public Schools Restraint Policy.
If using home/school communication logs - use format that was agreed upon with liaison.
Under supervision of the Special Education and Classroom Teacher(s):
Deliver /modify lessons and classroom activities in accordance with the student’s current IEP.
Support communication between resource and regular education teachers.
Support the teacher’s instruction by assisting in planning, modifying and implementing curriculum, instruction and assessment according to the specific needs of the student.
Assist the teacher in creating and maintaining an instructional environment that is conducive to learning.
Encourage appropriate student behaviors by assisting with discipline, motivation and behavior management.
Follow behavior management procedures and prescribed consequences for student behavior.
Work with individual students or small groups of students on prescribed educational programs.
Attend specials with students as determined by TEAM or specialized teacher.
Demonstrate professionalism in the school setting.
Maintain confidentiality
Work collaboratively among the school community.
Select appropriate channels for resolving concerns by seeing the classroom teacher or child’s liaison.
Participate in professional development programs
Assist in maintaining classroom areas as appropriate.
Complete assigned duties such as bus duty, lunch and/or recess duty.
Reliable, responsible, on-time, professional demeanor.

Salary : $25 - $26
