We specifically support those living with mental illness and/or drug and alcohol addiction, offering a compassionate environment where they can find resources, community, and the tools they need for their journey to stability and well-being.
Position Summary
The Fundraising Coordinator will be a highly motivated and results-oriented individual responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies to secure essential financial resources for the H.O.P.E. Drop-In. This role is crucial for sustaining and expanding our vital services to the recovery community in Altoona. The successful candidate will work independently to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, with compensation directly tied to the funds successfully raised.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to meet the H.O.P.E. Drop-In's financial goals.
- Identify and research potential individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and grant opportunities.
- Explore and recommend diverse fundraising avenues, including direct mail campaigns, online fundraising, special events, major gift solicitation, and grant applications.
- Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors.
- Develop personalized cultivation plans for major gift prospects.
- Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgment of all donations.
- Keep donors informed about the impact of their contributions on those we serve.
- Grant Writing:
- Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other sources that align with our mission.
- Write compelling grant proposals and reports, adhering to all submission guidelines and deadlines.
- Event Planning & Execution:
- Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events (e.g., galas, walks, online campaigns) from conception to completion.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for events.
- Communication & Marketing:
- Work with leadership to develop compelling fundraising appeals and marketing materials that clearly articulate our mission and impact.
- Communicate the mission, vision, and impact of the H.O.P.E. Drop-In effectively to potential donors and the public.
- Reporting & Administration:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and fundraising activity in a tracking system.
- Provide regular reports on fundraising progress to the H.O.P.E. Drop-In leadership.
- Manage fundraising-related administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of successful fundraising experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft compelling narratives and proposals.
- Experience with grant writing and research.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
- Proficiency in using fundraising software/databases (e.g., Salesforce, Donor Perfect) preferred.
- Deep passion for and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with mental illness and/or substance abuse, and a commitment to the mission of promoting recovery.
Compensation:
This is a commission-based position. The Fundraising Coordinator will receive a percentage of all funds successfully raised and secured for the H.O.P.E. Drop-In. The specific percentage will be discussed and agreed upon during the interview process, based on experience and fundraising targets. There is no base salary for this position; compensation is directly tied to fundraising performance

Pay: $100.00 - $20,000.00 per year
Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
