Summary:       

This position is responsible for leading the division’s machining and assembly operations at the operational level to ensure optimum effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring that the company develops and/or maintains manufacturing capabilities to support the organization’s strategic business plan.

Directly supervises up to 30 employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs all of the divisions machining and assembly operations.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of assigned employees including planning and establishing work schedules and assignments.
  • Recruits, mentors, evaluates, develops, and deploys operations managers.
  • Monitors and tracks performance of assigned managers to support all statements of work and implementation of new business.
  • Ensures the company develops and/or maintains manufacturing capabilities to support the organization’s strategic business plan.
  • Establishes and is accountable for overall organizational expectations and metrics for Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Engagement.
  • Leads continuous improvement framework (e.g. Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma) to eliminate waste and reduce operational costs.
  • Develops and deploys an effective root cause and correction action program, and monitors the program to support organizational improvement.
  • Ensures functional input and oversight of all manufacturing plans.
  • Provides functional direction and support to Integrated Product Teams and ensures the success of team activities and deliverables.
  • Authorizes and approves statements of work and required resources to support contracted work and new business development opportunities from proposal to execution.
  • Provides input to organizational / departmental budgets.
  • Pursues new technologies for product development, design, and manufacturing to aid in achieving business and production goals.
  • Establishes and maintains organizational process structure to support compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforces and supports company Safety Programs and EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) protocols to maintain a hazard-free work environment that adhere to OSHA and other regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Directs the review and implementation of new technologies to aid in achieving production goals.
  • Directs facility planning for all production areas.
  • Establishes and executes preventative maintenance plans.
  • Confers with other managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Operates job-related equipment with or without an accommodation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Handles disciplinary action and employee terminations in accordance with company policy.
  • Travels as needed via train, airplane, subway, automobile, or other public or private conveyance.
  • Conducts toolbox talks and other training.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant education and experience required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Syteline or Vantage preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and performing work independently without being prompted.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and work within deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Able to meet frequent short timeline goals and deadlines.

 

Export Compliance Requirement

This position may require access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies and/or documents.  Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and meet the requirements of being a “U.S. Citizen.”

 

Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine and complex reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in front of customers or employees.  Ability to read, write and understand the English language.  Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with customers, management and co-workers, and the ability to listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed. 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:  Must be able to solve practical problems involving several concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.   Ability to read, analyze and interpret simple and complex instructions, legal documents, and technical procedures.  Ability to research and resolve issues relating to employment law.  Ability to perform repetitive mental functions.

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.  The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, and kneel.  Specific vision requirements include close-up vision.

Work Environment:  The work characteristics described throughout this job description are representative of those an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.  The work environment is usually well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  There is generally no exposure to danger.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
