Job Summary
Based in the Genetics Counseling Department, the Genetic Counselor II is responsible for providing genetic education, risk assessment, counseling, psychological support and follow up to individuals and families with cancer who may have inherited cancer susceptibility.
Position Highlights
- Provides services on a clinical basis and as part of research studies.
- Identifies families at risk for inherited cancer, interprets information about hereditary cancer, describes inheritance patterns and presents options for genetic testing and clinical surveillance with individuals and/or families.
- Qualified Genetics professional who demonstrates a passion for our mission, and who takes pride in delivering world class care in a collaborative, learning environment.
- The successful candidate will be a superior communicator, an engaged team member, and a knowledgeable, patient focused provider.\
- Provides genetic counseling as part of a multidisciplinary cancer genetics program.
- Provides educational seminars to professional and lay groups as requested and appropriate.
- Participates in clinical cancer genetics research development and implementation.
- Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
- Board eligible/Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
- FL DOH Genetic Counselor license.
- One to three years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is desirable but not required.
- Note: Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
