HL Environmental Services is seeking an experienced Hazardous Waste / Hazardous Materials Media Lead to provide technical leadership supporting environmental compliance programs for Patrick Space Force Base and associated installations.
This designated Key Personnel position leads hazardous waste and hazardous material operations, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, Department of the Air Force, and Department of Transportation regulations while supporting critical U.S. Space Force missions.
What You'll Do
- Lead Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Material compliance programs.
- Manage Hazardous Waste Accumulation Sites and Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility operations.
- Oversee hazardous waste characterization, profiling, labeling, storage, transportation, and disposal.
- Coordinate hazardous waste shipments, manifests, and disposal documentation.
- Conduct inspections of:
- Centralized Hazardous Waste Accumulation Facilities
- Initial Accumulation Points (IAPs)
- Satellite Accumulation Points (SAPs)
- Provide hazardous waste compliance assistance to installation personnel.
- Manage hazardous material authorization, tracking, and shelf-life programs.
- Administer Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Material modules within EESOH-MIS.
- Develop regulatory reports and technical documentation.
- Support regulatory inspections, compliance audits, and Environmental Management System initiatives.
- Coordinate recycling, pollution prevention, and waste minimization efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Management, Chemistry, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum:
- BS 5 years of experience
- MS 4 years
- PhD 4 years
- Demonstrated experience with:
- RCRA
- Hazardous waste management
- DOT hazardous materials regulations
- Hazardous waste characterization
- Manifesting and waste tracking
- Knowledge of federal and Florida environmental regulations.
- Current DOT HazMat Employee Training (49 CFR 172.704)
- Current RCRA Hazardous Waste Refresher Training
- OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120)
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License "H" endorsement if required
- Experience supporting Air Force or Space Force environmental compliance programs.
- Experience using EESOH-MIS.
- Experience managing TSDF or Hazardous Waste Accumulation Sites.
- Experience conducting environmental compliance inspections and regulatory audits.
- Full-time, on-site at Patrick Space Force Base.
- Regular travel to supported installations.
- Combination of office and field work in industrial and operational environments.
- Occasional lifting, walking, climbing, and outdoor work.
