Position Summary:
The Set-Up Technician II at H&L Advantage is responsible for the efficient setup and removal of molds and dies, preparing work areas, and operating equipment to support production. This role manages inventory, completes documentation, and collaborates with team members to resolve setup issues while ensuring safety compliance. As a backup, they monitor processes and make adjustments during the Process Technician's absence.
Core Accountabilities:
· Die & Mold Setup: Efficiently remove and set dies and molds in machinery to ensure smooth production operations.
· Work Area Setup & Teardown: Manage the set-up and teardown of work areas, including auxiliary equipment, to maintain workflow efficiency.
· Equipment Operation, Maintenance & Issue Resolution: Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment to transport molds and dies, perform routine maintenance, and independently identify and resolve setup or production issues, escalating complex issues as needed.
· Inventory & Documentation Management: Monitor and manage the inventory of tools and supplies for setup operations, ensuring availability, and complete required paperwork accurately to maintain proper records for inventory and production.
· Shift Communication & Collaboration: Facilitate clear communication between oncoming and outgoing shifts. Works closely with the production team, quality assurance, and maintenance to ensure continuity of operations and address any issues to enhance production processes.
· Process Monitoring & Adjustment: During the Process Technician’s absence, monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal production quality, including changes to temperature, pressure, and speed settings.
· Process Start-Up and Shut-Down: Perform complete start-up and shut-down procedures on machines in alignment with production requirements and quality standards.
· Safety Compliance: Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety and environmental regulations throughout production processes.
· Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as requested to support the company’s goals.
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Crane and Forklift Certification required – provided onsite.
· Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in plastic injection molding, is highly desirable.
· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Set-Up Technician Role.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Demonstrated mechanical abilities with a thorough understanding of production equipment and machinery operations.
· Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new production equipment and technologies.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
· Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch for prolonged periods while performing job duties.
· Able to ascend and descend stairs/ladders/walking working platforms.
· Capable of traversing the shop floor and moving safely on uneven terrain.
· Ability to respond swiftly to alerts and potential safety hazards in the workplace.
· Strong manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling tools and inspecting equipment and products.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, with occasional requirements to lift heavier items.
· Must be able to correctly wear and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout working hours to ensure safety.
Environmental Conditions:
Plant Environment: Seasonal temperature changes, with warmer summers and heated winters, along with typical manufacturing exposures such as dust, odors, and occasional chemical fumes.
