Description
This is a supervisory position. The Shop Foreman must possess knowledge and experience in safety, products, application, and painting and demonstrate mastery and consistency in skills and techniques with minimal instruction and oversight. Directs and schedules production crew in the day-to-day shop activities and assignments.
Requirements
Possess a valid Florida Drivers License with a clean driving record.
Pass an entry drug screen and all subsequent drug tests during employment.
At least three (3) years experience in the painting field and previous experience in supervision.
At least three (3) years' experience as a forklift operator.
Knowledge of construction safety rules, regulations, and practices.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations on hazardous materials management practices and techniques.
Able to effectively communicate in person and via phone and e-mail.
Possess basic mathematical skills as well as adequate reading and writing skills.
Able to set priorities and make appropriate decisions on assignments contingent upon availability of materials and manpower.
Able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Able to supervise and train employees.
Must be a self-motivator with good initiative and flexibility.
Must be able to work well as a team player and interact well within a group.
Able to perform multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to an ever-changing workload.
Able to set up and operate all shop blast and spray equipment and to select the proper paint materials for any job.
Perform all principal duties and possess the skills and abilities of a Journeyman Painter.
Communicate daily with direct supervisor and GC representatives the status and needs of all shop projects.
Monitor and observe work performed and checks for adherence to quality standards and safe work practices.
Responsible for leading crew to meet time and productivity goals.
Troubleshoot basic job, equipment, and personnel issues.
Duties/Responsibilities
Coordinate and assess needs for multiple projects, including the ordering of paint and effective allocation of man-hours.
Maintain stock/inventory of commonly used paints at appropriate levels to minimize disruption of workflow
Coordinate and communicate with customers on deliveries, pickups, and schedule of project status/completion
Review completed work for accuracy and efficiency and evaluate individual performance (quality control)
Work with superintendents/project managers to manage schedules and ensure best use of manpower and workload, by participating in scheduling meetings.
Oversee loading/unloading of complex equipment and deliveries.
Coordinate with Project Coordinator on project calendar and timelines.
Assign and oversee work performed by production staff.
Prepares daily job reports and tracks work hours of shop team members using a computer.
Ensure safe work habits are followed by all assigned team members. Ensure proper personal safety devices are available and in good working order.
Ensure that team members are properly trained and perform quality work in a timely manner.
Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
Represent the company in a positive and professional manner with customer satisfaction as the top priority.
Resolve and/or advance issues in a timely fashion.
Must counsel and direct team members, using tact and treating sensitive information appropriately.
Assist Superintendent/Project Manager in conducting annual employee performance reviews.
Additional
Consistent attendance is required.
Complete all mandatory training including Stormwater Management and all Safety Training.
Maintain the work area in a safe and clean condition.
Follow all safety practices as outlined in H.I.S. Painting, Inc. policy and procedures.
Serve on Safety Committee for a minimum of 1 quarter in a year.

- This position is physically demanding.
- This position requires full mobility including the ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, climb, push, pull, bend, and squat for varying lengths of time.
- Must pass an annual pulmonary exam to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Must maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which include walking, climbing, standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, heavy lifting, or similar activities for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
- Indoors in blast and paint booths.
- Outdoors, year round, in most weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in the heat.
