Interim Youth Pastor

Position Overview: The Interim Youth Pastor will provide spiritual leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the youth of the church, ages 12-18 while leadership seeks the Lord in a permanent youth pastor. This role requires a passion for discipling young people and equipping them to grow in their faith and live out the teachings of Scripture. The Interim Youth Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor and church leadership to develop programs and initiatives that engage youth in worship, study, and community. This is a part time hybrid position that consists of both onsite and remote work. Days and hours will be discussed in the interview process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Discipleship:
• Lead regular youth Bible studies, Small Groups, and other educational programs focused on biblical principles.
• Provide personal and group discipleship to help youth build a solid foundation in Scripture and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:2).
• Develop and teach age-appropriate lessons that are rooted in biblical truths and encourage spiritual growth (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
• Worship Leadership:
• Lead youth in worship through music, prayer, and praise, fostering an environment where young people can experience God’s presence (Colossians 3:16).
• Encourage youth to serve in the broader worship ministry, including supporting their participation in church services.
• Mentorship and Counseling:
• Provide pastoral care and counseling to youth, offering biblical guidance in times of personal struggles, doubts, and questions (Proverbs 22:6; James 1:5).
• Serve as a mentor, walking alongside youth in their spiritual journey, helping them navigate challenges and encouraging their growth (1 Thessalonians 2:7-8).
• Program Development and Leadership:
• Organize and oversee youth events such as retreats, conferences, mission trips, and community outreach programs, aiming to strengthen the faith of youth while fostering a sense of community and service (Acts 2:42-47).
• Collaborate with the church leadership to develop a comprehensive youth ministry strategy that aligns with the church's vision and mission (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).
• Parental Engagement:
• Build strong relationships with parents, encouraging their active involvement in their children's spiritual development (Ephesians 6:4).
• Offer resources and support for families as they seek to raise their children according to biblical principles (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
• Outreach and Evangelism:
• Inspire and lead youth to reach their peers with the Gospel message, fostering an outward-focused youth ministry (Matthew 5:14-16).
• Organize and encourage youth participation in outreach events and evangelism opportunities.
• Administrative Duties:
• Maintain accurate records of youth participation, event planning, and communication.
• Oversee the youth ministry budget, ensuring resources are used effectively to achieve ministry goals.

Qualifications:

• A personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual maturity and a commitment to biblical living (Galatians 5:22-23).
• Spiritually leading in his marriage and family (1 Timothy 3:1-7)
• A deep understanding of biblical teachings and a passion for sharing God’s Word with young people.
• Previous experience in youth ministry, teaching, or pastoral leadership is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in youth ministry, pastoral leadership, biblical studies or education; preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and volunteers.
• A heart for evangelism and outreach, with a desire to reach the next generation for Christ.
• Willing and able to jump in and serve where needed in order to best meet the needs of the body of Christ.
• Must be able to pass a background check.

Expectations Based on Biblical Scripture:

• Spiritual Maturity: The Youth Pastor must exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in their life, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
• Integrity: The Youth Pastor should live a life of integrity, modeling Christ-like behavior, and demonstrating moral and ethical conduct (1 Peter 1:15-16; Titus 2:7-8).
• Servant Leadership: The Youth Pastor is called to lead by serving others, following the example set by Jesus Christ (Matthew 20:26-28).
• Discipleship: The Youth Pastor will invest in the lives of youth, helping them grow spiritually and equipping them to be disciples who make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2).
• Prayer: The Youth Pastor should be committed to prayer, interceding for the youth and the church community, seeking God’s guidance in all areas of ministry (Ephesians 6:18).
• Church Attendance: The Youth Pastor will attend and participate in Wednesday and Sunday church services. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Reporting: The Youth Pastor will report to the Senior Pastor and work closely with other church staff members.
