What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lathe Setup Machinist position at H&H Machining Center, Inc.?
The Opportunity
H&H Machining Center is expanding! For 40 years, our family-owned, AS9100D-certified shop has delivered manufacturing excellence for aerospace, defense, and medical clients. We are investing in new equipment and looking for a highly skilled CNC Lathe Machinist who wants to do the best work of their career.
If you take pride in doing it right the first time and want to escape boring commodity work, this is the place for you. You will be working with advanced multi-axis machines (like our Doosan PUMA 2600SY), tackling tight tolerances ( /-0.0002"), and machining challenging exotic superalloys.
What You'll Be Doing — As the owner of your machining process, you will:
- Set up and operate multi-axis CNC lathe and mill-turn machines (including sub-spindle, live tooling, and Y-axis).
- Perform complete setups independently: load tools, touch off work offsets, and verify accuracy from print through first-article acceptance.
- Ensure flawless quality by reading complex blueprints/GD&T, inspecting parts with precision instruments, and making offset adjustments.
- Troubleshoot and optimize setups, tooling, and cycle times to drive continuous improvement.
- Machine complex components using Inconel (718/625), titanium, A286, stainless steel, and aluminum.
What You Bring to the Team:
- 5 years of CNC lathe setup experience in a precision machining environment.
- Proven expertise with multi-axis CNC turning centers and Fanuc-compatible controls.
- Ability to consistently hold close tolerances of /-0.0002".
- Strong understanding of tooling, inserts, workholding, offsets, and complex GD&T.
Bonus Points: Programming knowledge in Mastercam or Fusion 360; AS9100D/ITAR aerospace or defense experience; Doosan PUMA turning center experience.
Why Join H&H Machining Center?
