Diesel & Equipment Technician (Shop/Mobile Position)
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Diesel & Equipment Technician to join our shop team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light-duty diesel trucks, Class 8 semi trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment in a shop environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on light-duty diesel trucks, Class 8 semi trucks, and heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service work
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and hydraulic components
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using diagnostic equipment and software
- Perform repairs on pickups, work trucks, semi trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Complete inspections and identify safety or maintenance concerns
- Maintain accurate repair orders and service records
- Operate shop tools and equipment safely
- Keep shop area clean, organized, and safe
- Work closely with management and other technicians to prioritize repairs
- Follow company safety procedures and OSHA standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on light-duty diesel trucks, Class 8 semi trucks, and equipment
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities
- Knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read repair manuals and schematics
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins, CAT, Detroit Diesel, PACCAR, Volvo, or similar equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment
Work Environment
- Indoor shop environment/Mobile in-field
- Regular exposure to noise, grease, dust, and shop equipment
- Standard work hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with additional time as needed based on workload
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay ranging from $30–$50 per hour depending on experience
